BRENTON REEF 40 To Debut at Newport Boat Show

Alden Yachts has announced the sale of the first Brenton Reef 40. To be built as on Open Express, this first hull will be debuted at the Newport Boat Show in September 2004. The modified deep V hull will be powered by twin Yanmar 440 hp diesels and the boat is expected to cruise in the mid 20s with a top speed of 30 knots.

"To have sold the first hull of a new design before even advertising the boat is a very encouraging development," said Jim Ewing, General Manager for Alden Yachts, "we think that once people see what excellent value is being offered in the Brenton Reef series we will be building a good number of these boats".

Besides an Open Express, the Brenton Reef can be ordered as a Hardtop Express, Saloon Express, and Flybridge Express. Each of these models have a distinctly aggressive, modern styling which sets them apart from what is presently available in this size boat.

As with all Alden Yachts, both the hull and deck will be built in E-glass and Kevlar using epoxy resins throughout and will be vacuum bagged and post thermal cured. Great pains will be taken, as usual, to keep noise levels to the absolute minimum. The hull will be painted in the owner's choice of Awlgrip color.
