April 29, 2005 - For Immediate Release ALDEN YACHTS OFFERS NEW HUNT CUSTOM 58-68 FOOT SERIES Alden Yachts is pleased to announce the introduction of a new line of powerboats in the 58 to 68-foot range. In cooperation with the design office of C. Raymond Hunt, a line of Express Cruisers, Motor Yachts, and Pilothouse Motor Yachts is being offered. Each project will be treated as a custom build, but since Alden Yachts has invested in permanent tooling, the price of these yachts will be considerably less than a comparable one-off. Proven by the number of successful custom yachts that have been based on this design, the pedigree of this Hunt hull is impeccable. The 61' Wilbur Motor Cruiser, EXCEL, closely followed by GITANA and TUMBLEHOME were produced from this design. Lyman Morse then built both the highly regarded 62' Sedan Cruiser AXEL D and the 60' Motor Cruiser AUK VI. Burger used the design to build the high performance Day Cruiser, MIDNIGHT, after which The Royal Huisman Yard used it to build ZWERVER. The Hinckley Company followed with ARION, a 67' Motor Cruiser. To date eight custom projects have proved the merits of this fast cruising hull that, in the words of Richard Thiel, Editor in Chief of Power and Motoryacht magazine, "bespeaks seaworthiness" and "was bred for the open ocean". The famous Hunt, deep-V design has long been lauded for its superior performance in rough conditions. Agile, dry and stable at high speeds, and with excellent tracking and wave softening attributes, these hulls have been a favorite among military and professional mariners. These same qualities in addition to stability at anchor have also made this design very popular among cruising yachtsmen. The new Alden Yachts - C. Raymond Hunt Custom 58/68 Series is a proven performer built to the highest standards making it the perfect platform upon which to create a world class yacht. As with all the boats they produce, Alden Yachts will build these hulls using Kevlar/E glass and Epoxy resins exclusively. Solid laminate bilge areas will give way to cored composite in the topsides, deck and house. The parts will be vacuum-bagged and post-thermal-cured to produce an exceptionally strong yet light structure. Meticulous fairing followed by sprayed Awlgrip will provide a stunningly lustrous finish. Mechanical
and electrical systems benefit from Alden Yachts' decades of experience
engineering and building offshore capable racing and cruising yachts recognized
as among the best in the world. Each system and its access and serviceability
is analyzed from a "best location" point-of-view. Similarly,
all large machinery installations are designed to be removed with a minimum
of labor and structural trauma. For
