Today, Alden Yachts Corporation of Portsmouth, Rhode Island announced the signing of a new contract to build a 49-foot Flybridge Express. The 49 will be hull number 15 in the series. "This
model (the 49) has shown itself to be one of the most successful yachts
we have produced in several years," said Jim Ewing, Vice President
of Alden Yachts. "Every one of the 49's that we have sold has been bought by an owner who has owned several yachts prior to this one. We are seeing owners move up in size from smaller yachts, move down in size from larger yachts, and crossover from owning a sailboat to owning the 49. The common denominator amongst all these buyers is that they are experienced, knowledgeable yachtsmen who demand a level of performance and finish that the 49 is able to deliver." The yacht will be powered by twin Caterpillar C12- 710HP diesel engines with Cat's new ACERT® Technology. ACERT provides more efficient combustion reducing engine wear and maximizing the amount of fuel energy applied to the propeller. The yacht will further benefit from Alden Yachts' Acoustic Noise Reduction Program that involves ten different techniques aimed at producing the quietest powerboats in the industry. Machinery isolation mounting, exhaust silencing, vibration dampening and sound blocking and absorbing are all carefully and thoroughly addressed. Completion of the 49 Flybridge Express is scheduled for Spring 2007. For more information contact Alden Yachts at 401.683.4200 or email at press@aldenyachts.com
