Today, Alden Yachts Corporation of Bristol, Rhode Island announced the signing of a new contract to build a 52-foot Saloon Express. The 52 will be hull number 19 in the series. "With
this model (the 52) we are taking the basic arrangement plan of the
49 Express, which has been very successful, and building her in the
50 series hull" states Jim Ewing, Vice President of Alden Yachts.
"With more beam throughout the boat, including forward, we can
stretch-out a bit and provide a few additional ammenities. The
idea is not to cram three more staterooms and two more heads into three
feet of yacht. But to allow more space everywhere. Space is an
undervalued attribute". The yacht will be powered by twin Cummins QSM11-M 715 HP diesel engines which should provide a top end approaching 30 knots and a comfortable cruising speed in the mid 20's. The yacht will further benefit from Alden Yachts' Acoustic Noise Reduction Program that involves ten different techniques aimed at producing the quietest powerboats in the industry. Machinery isolation mounting, exhaust silencing, vibration dampening and sound blocking and absorbing are all carefully and thoroughly addressed. In addition she will include such standard features as wrap-around rear windows, ultra-suede upholstery, ultra-leather helm and companion seats, Sub-Zero under counter Refrigerator/Freezer with varnished wood drawers, Mathers dual micro-control throttles, Delta T engine room ventilation / mist eliminators, Racor dual fuel filters - features that are Options on almost all other yachts which are standard on an Alden Yachts Express.
