ALDEN YACHTS TO BUILD NEW 52' MOTOR YACHT

Date: March 23, 2005

Today, Alden Yachts Corporation of Portsmouth, Rhode Island has announced the signing of a new contract to build a 52' Motor Yacht. The 52 will be hull number 17 in the Alden Yachts 50-56 series, and will be the sixth constructed using post-thermal cured epoxy resin since the company made the transition to epoxy construction.

The yacht will be powered by twin Cummins 660 HP diesel engines. Her interior will feature a two stateroom, two head arrangement finished in cherry with all the thoughtful touches for which Alden Yachts has long been famous.

Unique to this yacht will be a new transom design - a reverse with a gentle curve - and a new flybridge design with a more aggressive forward rake. "This yacht will have a contemporary feel to it, yet it will retain the overall classic look which has become a trademark of all of our yachts" maintains David MacFarlane, President of Alden Yachts.

Her hull was designed by the office of C. Raymond Hunt and is a version of its famous deep-V design. Agile, dry and stable in the roughest conditions, with excellent tracking and wave softening attributes, these hulls have been a favorite among military and professional mariners.

The yacht will further benefit from Alden Yachts' Acoustic Noise Reduction Program that involves ten different techniques aimed at producing the quietest powerboats in the industry. Machinery isolation mounting, exhaust silencing, vibration dampening and sound blocking and absorbing are all carefully and thoroughly addressed. Completion of the 52 Motor Yacht is scheduled for Spring 2006.
