Under
Contract: Alden Yachts 48 Flybridge Express
Date: October 10, 2003
Contact: David MacFarlane
Today, Alden Yachts announced the signing of a new contract to build
a 48' Flybridge Express. This will be the second Flybridge Express for
her owner
built by Alden Yachts - the first was a 56 - and the first powerboat
built
by Alden Yachts using epoxy resin and post thermal cured. Three years
ago,
Alden Yachts had made the switch to epoxy construction with their sailboat
line, and with the building of the 48 Flybridge Express will have completed
the transition to epoxy construction for both power and sail.
The
48 footer, which will be hull number nine in the series, will be powered
with twin Detroit 6062-740 HP diesel engines. Her interior will feature
a
two stateroom, two head arrangement finished in cherry, with all the
amenities and thoughtful touches that Alden Yachts has long been famous
for.
Unique
to this yacht will be two feet of additional length in the cockpit,
which will provide an expanded exterior space for entertaining as well
as a
subtle but not insignificant contribution to the elegant lines of her
profile.
Completion
of the 48 Flybridge Express is scheduled for summer 2004. For
