ALDEN YACHTS SELLS SECOND 49 SALOON EXPRESS IN MONTH OF SEPTEMBER

Date: October 1, 2004

Alden Yachts Corporation of Portsmouth, Rhode Island has announced the sale of another of its Saloon Express 49 powerboats, the second one to be sold in the month of September.

"It is always our hope to go into the boat shows with our winter production already sold out," reported David MacFarlane, President of Alden Yachts. "This almost always foreshadows a good year. With the introduction of our new Brenton Reef 40 series, 2005 promises to be a growth year both in terms of dollars and numbers of boats built."

The popularity of the 49 Hardtop Express is attributed to its extraordinarily high build-quality and performance. Using 100% epoxy resins in the boat's post-thermal cured, vacuum bagged Kevlar/E-glass composite hull and deck results in an extremely light and strong boat capable of cruising at speeds in excess of 30 knots.

In lieu of gelcoat, all surfaces are finished in Awlgrip for longevity and superior appearance. The most complete sound attenuation program in the industry results in the quietest running yachts in their class. Long recognized for their quality, Alden Yachts has improved its building efficiencies to the point where the cost of one of their custom yachts compares favorably with production boats built in Asia. "This value/quality relationship has become a compelling factor in all of our recent sales," said MacFarlane. "We hope to hold our pricing for the foreseeable future."
