Alden Yachts has announced the sale of a new 49-foot Saloon Express powerboat to an existing Alden Yachts owner who will be moving up from his 45- foot sailboat. Although the company has previously built ten yachts on this same hull, this new build will be the first to incorporate a comprehensive sound attenuation program that the company has made standard on all its power yachts. |

"It is always gratifying to have a client return for a second or third build as it is the best indication that his experience with us has been a good one. We try to make the building of each boat a memorable and fun experience and, of course, the after-sales support we provide is critical to return business." David MacFarlane, President of Alden Yachts, went on to explain, "In this particular case the client has decided to make the move from sail to power. Like many sailors, he expressed concern about losing the aesthetic and particularly the relaxing quality of listening to wind and water rather than roaring engines. Our new sound attenuation program is designed for just such a client." |

This new 49 Saloon Express will be built of E-glass pre-preg composites with Kevlar forward impact zone and triple vacuum bagged using epoxy resins exclusively. Both hull and deck will be post-thermal cured and finished in Awlgrip for the most lustrous and resilient finish available. She will be powered by twin Cummins QSM-11 / 660 HP diesel engines which will give her a comfortable cruising speed of 27 knots with a range of over 435 nautical miles, and an expected top speed of about 32 knots. Previous yachts of this size built by Alden Yachts with similar power have displayed decibel readings in the 78 dB(A) range in the main saloon at cruising speed.
